Barbara Boxer

John Nichols latest piece in The Nation speaks to the importance of Boxer's willingness to stand firm in her opposition to Rice's confirmation as Secretary of State. As Nichols note, the debate in the senate on Tuesday and again this morning was the most engaged debate the Senate has yet to have concerning the the Bush Administration's lies.

Both in her questioning of Rice during the hearings of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and her spirited discussions in the Senate, Boxer played a critical role in assuring that many Democratic senators recognized their responsibility in considering Rice's nomination as something more than "a ceremonial exercise."

She and others who continue to fight this administration need our support. Make phone calls, write letters to the editors of local and national newspapers, and contact your like-minded friends. We must never surrender!
